2022 Marathon Medalist Portraits
As a way to give back to our running community at the end of the 2022 season, Sam Vellum, Jay-Dee Samonite and myself organized a “class picture day” during our weekly track club workout.
This project is a celebration of the accomplishments of our peers, capturing this moment in their lives for posterity. Runners were asked about their experiences in the running community to further imbue this project with story and humanity.
The responses and portraits were curated for a social media series for Brooklyn Track Club that remains one of its most engaged with posts among its tens of thousands of followers.
Our hope is that this small gesture lives long beyond its social media presence. That our teammates, training partners - our friends - might one day show these images to their kids, or their kids’ kids, as as evidence of their determination and triumph.
